What supports people to live better, longer?

This pivotal question is our motivation at the Healthy Aging Initiative. Our goal is to empower older adults to live their best lives, and we developed an assessment and feedback process to help you along that journey. By participating in our study, you are both contributing to the science and practice of living better but also learning more about your own holistic health and ways that you can enhance your healthy aging trajectory.

What is healthy aging?

It is developing and maintaining our capacity for well-being in physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and social health. One of the most important aspects to understand is that everyone can make health their focus and make small or big changes to their own healthy aging at any time of lifeā€”at any capacity. Modifying your healthy aging trajectory could be as simple as moving 20 minutes a day, investing in social relationships, building an optimistic outlook, or creating meaning in your daily activities. There are so many ways to engage in your own health, and we are here to help you discover your next steps.

Healthy aging is a pursuit

Healthy aging is an individual and communal pursuit that needs to be embedded in the systems in which we live. We have begun to promote healthy aging globally by putting in place policies for healthy eating, increased physical activity, improved housing conditions, reducing loneliness, and building age-inclusive communities. In fact, we are in the midst of the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing, declared by the World Health Organization. Healthy aging is a global phenomenon, and you can be a part of it!
